Granny Jones visits Dwelling Place Church

Granny Jones entertains youth for Youth Day

Granny Jones decided to skip her medication round at Hillcreek Nursing Home on Sunday. Instead, she caught a ride to Dwelling Place church to entertain the youth.

Granny Jones is the dramatic heroine of Leora Jackson, poet, author and playwriter. She is a 70 year-old grandmother who delights in telling children stories of Black History and God's History.

"I believe that our youth are not getting enough of their black history in schools or in their homes today. This is bothersome because we as black people have so much history and we need to pass this down to our kids so they can know who they are and respect their culture."

Black Pride and Culture awareness is a mission in her plays and poetry, but also knowledge of God's history through storytelling is something she enjoys as well.

She is now a member of Mt. Sinai AOH in Louisville and enjoys teaching Sunday School and helping with dramatic arts and plays at her church.

When she is not acting as Granny Jones, she performs poetry, plays and storytelling to audiences in churches, community centers and other venues.

"I appreciate the opportunity to tell stories and use my God given talent to bless the young people and others."

Please contact Leora Jackson for acts, poetry and story telling.
